“CUMC PROMOTES BREASTFEEDING”

The 20-hour training for the CUMC Maternal Care staff was conducted by LMET (Lactation Management Education Trainers) Dr. H. Batolina, Dr. R. Cordovez, Dr. Marlene Sinadjan, Dr. Sheryl Sia, Ms. Jean Albarracin and Ms. Rubie Bayron last July 16-20,2012. The following topics were included: 1. BFHI- a part o f a global strategy,2. Communication skills, 3. 10 steps to successful breastfeeding, 4.Promoting BF during pregnancy, 5.Protecting BF, 6. How milk gets from the breast to baby, 7. Helping with a breastfeed, 8.Practices that assist breastfeeding, 9.Milk supply, 10.Infants with special needs, 11.Breast and nipple concerns, 12. Maternal health concerns, 13. Drugs in Lactation, 14.On-going support for breast feeding mothers, 15.Making your hospital Baby-friendly.
The remaining Nursing service staff were also oriented last August 15, 2012, with the following Topics included: Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding,CUMC Breastfeeding Policy,Importance of breastfeeding, breastfeeding concerns, drugs in lactation and maternal health concerns.
The CUMC non-medical staff were oriented last September 4,5,11,12 and 17, with the following topics discussed: Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding,CUMC Breastfeeding Policy,Importance of breastfeeding.
